How our content is made.
Who's accountable, how AI fits into production, and how to get a factual error fixed. This page covers content — for how a product's rating is calculated and disputed, see methodology and appeals.
Who's accountable
Editorial standards are set by Editor-in-Chief and co-founder Brian Kim, CPA. Brian sets the standard; the ClearValue Editorial Team applies it page by page and carries the byline on content he didn't personally write or review — we don't attribute team output to an individual who didn't touch it.
No page on this site carries an invented human author. If a byline names a real person, that person exists and has the described relationship to the content — reviewer, Editor-in-Chief, or team member — never a fabricated persona.
How AI is used in production
Some pages on this site are researched and drafted with AI assistance under the editorial standard above. That's disclosed here, not hidden: AI-assisted pages carry the ClearValue Editorial Team byline rather than a claimed individual author, and every factual claim is checked against a named primary source — CFPB, FRED, SBA, IRS, FDIC, NCUA, FHFA, a state regulator, or the issuer/lender's own disclosure — before it publishes.
AI assistance changes how a draft gets produced. It doesn't change who's accountable for it being correct — that's still the Editorial Team, against the standard above.
Corrections policy
Found a factual error, a stale figure, or a broken citation in an article, guide, or answer page? Tell us the page, the claim, and — where possible — a public source showing the correct value, via contact. We check it against the source and correct the page if the claim doesn't hold up; a materially corrected page gets a new "last updated" date.
Disputing an input behind a product's rating or ranking (a rate, a fee, an eligibility floor) is a separate, dated process with published SLAs and outcomes — use methodology appeals for that instead.
What we don't do
- — Invent a named human author or expert who didn't write or review the piece.
- — Claim a page was human-written when AI assisted the draft.
- — Publish a factual claim without a named, checkable primary source.
- — Let a partner relationship change what a page says — see how we make money.
