Intelliscore Plus

Intelliscore Plus is Experian Business's predictive business credit risk score ranging from 1-100, where lower scores indicate higher risk — widely used by trade creditors and alternative lenders to assess business creditworthiness.

Intelliscore Plus (now branded as Experian Business Premier Profile credit score in some contexts) is Experian Business's commercial credit risk model. Unlike PAYDEX, which measures only payment timing, Intelliscore Plus is a multi-factor predictive score that models the likelihood a business will experience a serious delinquency (90+ days past due or collection/charge-off) within the next 12 months. Factors in Intelliscore Plus include: payment history across trade lines and public records (highest weight), number of trade lines, utilization ratios, outstanding balances, derogatory public records (liens, judgments, bankruptcies), length of credit history, and business size indicators. The 1-100 scale has defined risk bands: 76-100 (low risk), 51-75 (low to medium), 26-50 (medium), 11-25 (medium to high), 1-10 (high risk). Many alternative lenders and B2B suppliers pull Experian Business (Intelliscore) as their primary business credit check — distinct from D&B and Equifax Business. Because each bureau has different data contributors, a business may have strong PAYDEX (D&B) but a weak Intelliscore (Experian) if different suppliers report to different bureaus. Monitoring all three business credit bureaus is necessary for a complete picture.

Frequently asked questions

How is Intelliscore Plus different from PAYDEX?

PAYDEX (D&B) measures only payment timing and is a single-factor score. Intelliscore Plus (Experian Business) is multi-factor — it models delinquency probability using payment history, utilization, public records, credit depth, and business size. Intelliscore Plus is generally considered more predictive of default risk; PAYDEX is more of a pure payment-behavior metric.

How do I check my Intelliscore Plus score?

Experian Business credit reports and scores are available through Experian's business credit portal at experian.com/small-business or through business credit monitoring services. Checking your own score does not affect it (no inquiry impact on business credit). SBDC advisors can sometimes help pull and interpret business credit reports at no charge.

Can a personal credit event affect Intelliscore Plus?

Intelliscore Plus is a business credit score based on business-tradeline and public record data — not personal credit. However, for very small businesses with thin credit files, Experian may incorporate a 'blended' model that includes personal credit data when business data is insufficient. This blending is more likely for sole proprietors and very young businesses.
