$44.8B — SBA guarantees in FY2025. U.S. Small Business Administration, September 2025.
The U.S. Small Business Administration guaranteed $44.8 billion across 84,400 loans in fiscal year 2025 — representing one of the most sustained high-volume years in SBA program history. The 7(a) program, the SBA's primary working-capital vehicle, accounted for the majority of loan volume.
The SBA announced the change May 18, 2026 and it took effect July 4, 2026: the cumulative 7(a)/504 loan limit doubled from $5 million to $10 million per borrower, expanding access for established businesses seeking repeat or larger-scale financing.
